Vehicle Import Policy in Congo Democratic Republic

Congo Democratic Republic has made certain changes to the rules and regulations regarding the importation of cars in the country which are to be stringently followed.

Age Limit

The decree #12/041 enforced by the government of Democratic Republic of Congo has made certain changes to the age limit and condition categorization of the cars being imported in the country.

1.  Imported second hand cars or buses (less than 10 seats) must be less than 10 years old

2.  Imported second hand van or buses (more than 10 seats) must be less than 7 years old

3.  Imported second hand lorries must be less than 10 years old

Pre Shipment Inspection

The inspection prior to shipment is made essential without which the process of importation vehicles will not proceed. Failure to maintain the standards of imported cars will result in failure of issuance of certificate and repairs must be made mandatory.

Documents Prior To Shipment

The importers have to provide certain documents prior to the loading of the vehicles for shipment without which the process will be halted and no further importation action shall take place.

1. Original Car Registration Document or Legal Copy

2. Conveyance Certificate

3. Original Vehicle Inspection Certificate or Legal Copy of Country of Origin

Tariff on Vehicles

The average tariff on vehicles such a trucks, vans, cars, lorries, as well a non motor vehicles is 10.16%
