Mazda Demio

MAZDA DEMIO

The Mazda Demio is a minivan produced by the Japanese manufacturer Mazda. It is the predecessor of the Mazda2 and was located between the Mazda 121 and the Mazda 323.

Over time, the Demio underwent a slight facelift: the renewed version came out in 2000 with changed headlights and a revised interior, including new colors. In addition, the so-called 5-point radiator grill typical of Mazda models was also introduced.

Other features included a different bonnet, new shock absorbers, increased noise insulation, a new electronically controlled automatic transmission available in the 1.5-liter models, and power steering, which was also electronic.

The interior of the car is particularly variable. For example, the rear seat is movable by 12 centimeters, and folding down the front seats creates a 2.03 meter-long bed surface.

With the facelift in April 2000, the larger 1.3-liter engine was replaced by the following version with a larger capacity. For the first time, an automatic could only be systematic with this engine: a 1.5 liter four-cylinder petrol engine with a displacement of 1498 cm³ inline design with 55 kW (75 hp), 5-speed manual transmission, or 4-speed automatic transmission.

Depending on the model, the Demio has a tank capacity of 36 to 44 liters and consumes 4.7 to 5 liters per 100 km.

Honda Fit/Jazz

HONDA FIT

The Honda Fit is a compact car that the Japanese manufacturer Honda designs and manufactures. The Honda Motor Corporation also sells this car under the name Honda Jazz. This vehicle is available in the continents of Asia, Africa, Europe, and Oceania countries. However, since the end of 2001, models in Japan, China, and the Americas have carried the name Honda Fit.

A second version of the Honda Fit was on the rampage on April 16, 2011. However, this facelift only includes small changes to the bumpers, headlights, taillights, and chassis. Since then, Honda also offers the hybrid model Hybrid IMA (Integrated Motor Assist). As a result, this vehicle combines a 1.3-liter petrol engine with 88 hp and a 10.3 kW electric motor.

The continuously variable transmission (CVT) is standard on the 1.3-liter hybrid. Moreover, this only comes as an option in the 1.4-liter version. The electric motor enables the hybrid model to drive purely electrically for a short distance.

This requires a full battery and a constant speed between 35 km/h and 50 km/h. However, the electric motor mainly serves to support the petrol engine. The tank volume of the Honda Fit is around 40 L, with fuel consumption of approximately 4.7 L per 100 km.

Mitsubishi Grandis

MITSUBISHI GRANDIS

The Mitsubishi Grandis is a van built by the Japanese car manufacturer Mitsubishi Motors from the summer of 2003 to mid-2011. In addition to the four-cylinder petrol engine with a displacement of 2.4 liters and 121 kW, Mitsubishi also offered the Grandis, a 2.0-liter diesel engine from the Volkswagen Group (a diesel particulate filter was available for an extra charge). The combined consumption is 6.6 liters, and CO2 emissions are 176 g/km.

The vehicle also offers a petrol engine with an optional four-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the Grandis had extensive safety equipment – including airbags for the driver and front passenger, head airbags for the first and second row of seats, ESP, brake assistant, electronic brake force distribution, and Isofix fasteners for child seats. With its size, the Mitsubishi Grandis is ideal for families.

The maximum speed of up to 210 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.0 seconds promise driving pleasure even for a family van. The vehicle’s combined fuel consumption is 6.6 liters per 100 km for the diesel and 9.4 liters for the petrol engine. With the 65-liter tank, even long journeys are easily manageable.

Nissan Cube

NISSAN CUBE

Nissan has produced this minivan since the late 1990s. Like the Nissan Micra, it was based on the so-called Nissan B platform and contained a comparable 1.3L R4 engine. Optional features for the third generation of the Cube are an all-wheel drive and a CVT transmission.

The Cube’s 11.3 seconds to 100 kilometers acceleration is reasonable for a car of its size and purpose. Up to fourth gear, the engine pulls in properly. In fifth gear, it’s less. This is mainly there to drive fuel-efficiently on the highway. You can feel vibrations in the vehicle’s interior at higher engine speeds.

The reverse gear on the Nissan Cube is in the right position down. Unfortunately, a device is missing, so it does not engage accidentally after the fifth gear. Also, this could cause problems at high speeds for drivers who use a 6-speed gearbox regularly.

In the third generation, Nissan uses engines with 82 to 101 hp output. The second generation was available in the automobile industry from 2002 to 2008. The Cube 1.4 I had 98 hp, and the Cube 1.5 109 hp. Unfortunately, both generations were only available to buyers in the Japanese market.

The third generation of Nissan Cube was also available publicly across the globe. The angular box shape of the first two generations was given a rounded style. The outfit wasn’t quite as chunky anymore, but the typical cube shape was largely retained.

In city traffic, the Cube consumes an average of 8.3 liters per 100 kilometers. However, it is only 5.6 liters out of town, so a combined consumption of 6.6 liters per 100 kilometers can be estimated.
